About Enfold Proactive Health Trust
Enfold Proactive Health Trust was founded in 2002 by Dr. Sangeeta Saksena and Dr. Shaibya Saldanha in response to the silence and apathy around gender-based violence and child sexual abuse. They could see the effect of this trauma on their patients in their day to day practice as gynaecologists. They felt that the lack of social discourse on sexuality and all its ramifications was harmful to all ages and strata of society.
About the Internship Opportunity
Enfold, in collaboration with UNICEF- India, is currently working on two comprehensive policy papers which focus on a study of the age of consent and violence against children. The Age of Consent policy paper seeks to examine the legal and policy framework relevant to the age of consent and the treatment of ‘consensual cases’ involving adolescents by Special Courts in Assam, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. The second policy paper aims to study the forms of violence against children in Rajasthan and the response of the state’s child protection system to these instances of violence.
Enfold seeks interns to assist the team working on the policy papers. The work will primarily entail:
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis of judgments from Special Courts in Assam, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Rajasthan
- Case law research of Supreme Court and High Court judgments
- Literature review and comparative law research on the age of consent
- Research on international legal standards
Requirements
The work is writing and research-intensive and interested students are required to be familiar with Criminal Law and the procedure, the POCSO Act, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
The work will also entail reading judgments in Hindi, and therefore, interested students are required to be fluent in Hindi.
Duration of Work
Students will intern remotely and will be expected to devote at least 12 hours every week for 3 months- from September to November.
Students who can intern full time for 3 months will be given preference.

LLB students currently in their 4th and 5th year are welcome to apply.
